"Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything."
— Mr. Miyagi
Man Who Catch Fly With Chopstick
Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything.
About this quote
From The Karate Kid (1984), spoken by Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) during an early encounter with Daniel LaRusso, when Daniel finds Miyagi trying to catch a housefly with chopsticks. Daniel asks if a flyswatter would not be easier; Miyagi replies with this proverb, and when Daniel asks if he has ever actually caught a fly, Miyagi calmly admits: "Not yet." The exchange is both humorous and instructive — Miyagi's patient, good-humoured persistence at an almost impossible task is itself a demonstration of the mastery he is trying to teach.
