"When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor."
— Elon Musk
When Something Is Important Enough You
When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.
About this quote
Said during a 60 Minutes interview with Scott Pelley broadcast in March 2014, in the context of SpaceX's early years when three consecutive Falcon 1 rocket failures nearly bankrupted the company. Musk had invested his entire PayPal proceeds — roughly $100 million — into SpaceX and Tesla simultaneously, and both were close to failure in 2008. He used this formulation to explain why he pressed on despite the odds.
