Said during a talk at Stanford University in October 2003, shortly after Musk founded SpaceX and was in the early stages of building Tesla. Musk was speaking to graduate students about entrepreneurship and distinguishing persistence from obstinacy: he argued that most ventures fail not because of insurmountable obstacles but because founders quit too soon, before the problem is actually shown to be unsolvable.
