About this quote
This quote is almost certainly not Einstein's. It does not appear in The Ultimate Quotable Einstein edited by Alice Calaprice, nor in any earlier reference work. The earliest known appearances are from around 2012–2013, more than five decades after Einstein's death in 1955. Quote researchers note it is likely a corruption of a saying attributed to Stephen Hawking — "Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change" — or may have originated as an anonymous paraphrase. Out of roughly fifty alleged Einstein quotes examined by Quote Investigator, only a handful have been confirmed as genuine.
