A Person Who Never Made A

A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.

— Albert Einstein

About this quote

Despite being plastered across motivational posters worldwide, this quote has no verified connection to Einstein. Quote Investigator found the first attribution to Einstein only in 1995 — four decades after his death — in a newspaper profile. The sentiment itself is far older: versions of the saying appear in print as early as 1832, and in Samuel Smiles' influential 1859 self-help book Self-Help. The two quotes at IDs 46 and 49 in this database are essentially duplicate attributions, representing the same dubious saying in slightly different wording.
