This phrase is attributed to Jobs and quoted in Walter Isaacson's authorised biography Steve Jobs (2011), which drew on more than forty interviews with Jobs over two years as well as conversations with family, colleagues, and competitors. It captures the driving ambition that Jobs' colleagues described as his "reality distortion field" — a refusal to accept that any technical or creative constraint was truly fixed. Jobs said similar things in various interviews throughout his career, using slightly different wording, but the compact phrase as it appears here became one of the most widely cited characterisations of his vision.
