"I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against."
— Malcolm X
Im For Truth No Matter Who
I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against.
About this quote
Recorded by Alex Haley in the epilogue to The Autobiography of Malcolm X (1965), where Haley quotes these words after hearing Malcolm X speak on a college campus. The full passage reads: "I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against. I'm a human being first and foremost, and as such I am for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole." It reflects the universalist shift in Malcolm X's thinking after his 1964 pilgrimage to Mecca, when he moved beyond racial separatism toward a broader conception of human rights.
