"Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."
— John F. Kennedy
Change Is The Law Of Life
Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.
About this quote
Delivered on June 25, 1963, in the Assembly Hall at the Paulskirche in Frankfurt, West Germany — a building that had housed Germany's first freely elected parliament in 1848. Kennedy invoked Goethe's Faust to argue that liberty dies the moment one stops adapting to change: Faust forfeits his freedom at the instant he asks the passing moment to stand still. The very next day, June 26, Kennedy delivered his most famous speech in Berlin: "Ich bin ein Berliner."
