"The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking."
— Albert Einstein
The World As We Have Created
The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.
About this quote
This quote cannot be verified as Einstein's. It does not appear in Alice Calaprice's authoritative The Ultimate Quotable Einstein (Princeton University Press), and no primary source — letter, speech, or publication — has been identified. It appears to be a paraphrase or elaboration of a verified 1946 Einstein telegram to the New York Times about atomic weapons, in which he wrote that "a new type of thinking is essential if mankind is to survive." The genuine statement is narrower in scope; the popular version is likely a later embellishment.
