"Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt."
— Sun Tzu
Let Your Plans Be Dark And
Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.
About this quote
From Chapter 7 (Maneuvering) of The Art of War, which deals with the art of converting the indirect route into the direct route and turning disadvantage into advantage. The imagery of night and the thunderbolt conveys two inseparable imperatives: concealment during preparation and absolute speed and decisiveness in execution. The sudden, overwhelming strike — preceded by complete secrecy — was one of Sun Tzu's preferred methods for achieving victory at minimum cost.
