"If I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!"
— Rocky Balboa
If I Can Change And You
If I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!
About this quote
Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) shouts this rallying cry at the end of Rocky IV (1985), following his victory over Soviet boxer Ivan Drago. The speech, delivered to a crowd initially hostile to Rocky, is the film's emotional climax and a Cold War allegory: if a working-class American can change, then perhaps ideological rivals can too. The speech drew a standing ovation from the fictional Soviet audience — and reportedly moved President Ronald Reagan.
