"Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you."
— Tyrion Lannister
Never Forget What You Are The
Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.
About this quote
Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) gives this piece of counsel to Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in Season 1, Episode 1 ("Winter Is Coming") of Game of Thrones, adapted from George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones. Tyrion, himself defined by others as a dwarf, advises Jon — marked as a bastard — to own his identity before the world can weaponize it. It is among the earliest statements of the series' recurring theme of self-possession in the face of stigma.
