From Carlin's HBO special Carlin on Campus (1984), recorded at UCLA. The joke is a textbook example of his technique of exposing the double standard hidden inside ordinary behaviour: everyone privately considers themselves the correct speed, which means everyone else is either dangerously slow or dangerously fast. The observation requires no exaggeration — it simply makes visible a piece of magical thinking most drivers perform every day.
