Never Forget What You Are For

Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness.

About this quote

Tyrion Lannister offers this counsel to Jon Snow in A Game of Thrones (1996) by George R.R. Martin, based on his own experience of living as a dwarf in a world that mocks him. The advice is to transform stigma into armor — to own one's identity so completely that shame cannot attach. The line is also adapted in Season 1, Episode 1 of Game of Thrones (2011) and became one of the most frequently quoted passages from the series.
